PwC

Audit Intern

June - August 2019 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

Associate Level Work

What I wish was different

For them to put me in the audit group I wanted in the first place. They gave me the group that was my second to the last choice, but I didnt even get work from them so I expressed my interest to the my first choices and they did not like it, so I ended up not getting the internship.

Advice

ask a lot of questions and make sure you know their expectations.

Core Assurance Intern

June - August 2019 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I was exposed training and a variety other resources to learn from when I wasn't busy with a client. Everyone wanted to get to know you and offered advice. There were always socials and events going on that allowed me to be involved and make connections. Additionally, we would also have a weekly lunch and learn series to learn about the firm, the CPA exam, and other initiatives.

What I wish was different

There was more flexibility to work with multiple clients for shorter periods of time.

Advice

You will get out what you put into the experience. Everyone is willing to help, but they don't know what you're interested in unless you speak up and tell them! There's so many opportunities, you just need to make it known and they do their best to accommodate you.

International Tax Services - Quantitative Solutions Intern

June - August 2017 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

I liked that I was thrown right into real projects and client work and was able to see what my role as a full-time employee would be. I loved working with my team. PwC has a lot of great people.

What I wish was different

I mostly worked on one large client over the course of the internship and I would have liked to get a little bit more diverse experience. Depending on what department you work in and what time of year it is, the workload and clients vary, so it's a little different for everyone.

Advice

Try your best to apply yourself and use the internship as an opportunity to expand your network. If you have a hard time finding client work from your manager or team, go to your buddy or other people in your department and see if you can assist them on any client work.

June - August 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

The company culture and being in Chicago was fabulous.

What I wish was different

I wish I would've had more information on what I would be doing work-wise over the summer before starting.

I would tell future candidates to expose themselves to all different types of clients if working in that type of job. It helps you grasp the magnitude of the company's book of business.

Risk Assurance Intern

June - August 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

I loved the people I worked with, they were always willing to help. They taught me so much over the three month internship. Additionally, the feedback segments were really important for my own personal development. I first had to summarize the tasks I completed, which were then reviewed and graded by an Associate I was working with, and finally they were sent to my career coach. My career coach would then have a sit-down meeting with me where we would discuss how I was doing and what I can do to be better. I think PwC has a strong belief of continuous improvement, and that is something I love. There is always more learning and more skills that you can add to become a better individual.

What I wish was different

I wish it could have been longer! I am very excited and grateful to receive a full-time offer (which I accepted). I can't wait to be a part of the team.

Advice

Be ready to learn and make mistakes! Don't feel like you can't ask questions, every single person is available and willing to help. No question is a dumb question, it is dumb to not ask any questions.

June - August 2019 • Boston, MA

Great people with a lot of exposure to new concepts that we’re not necessarily part of my academic classes.

Start Intern

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I had a ton of exposure to the various lines of service at PwC and individuals within the firm. I got to shadow Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers and compare the difference between the various positions.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to have more control over the groups that I shadowed as I ended up in a few that I was not interested in or had already shadowed.

Advice

Connect with all your fellow interns and the professionals that you meet. Your peers will help you get through the difficult parts of being in such a large firm, and the professionals you meet will open up opportunities for you in the present and future.
