Accountant Intern

June - August 2019 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

The firm felt like one big family. I thought I was going to be worked extremely hard and I would be expected to know more than I do about accounting, but all members of the firms were there to help and help you learn everything you needed to know.

What I wish was different

I wish it was longer.

Advice

The things you will do there are not like the things you learn in school. It is completely different. So, go in with an open mind expecting not to know somethings. Again, everyone is there to help you learn.

Accountant Intern

July - August 2020 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

Ability to network; met crucial members of potential teams to join (in tax division). Strong emphasis on company values and culture: Diversity and Inclusion, Be Well Work Well (for work-life balance), free access to apps for stress, mindfulness, healthier living, and Perks (for shopping discounts).

What I wish was different

It was remote. There was a lot of "work-on-your-own" time and it was difficult to distinguish what was actually expected of you. Earning badges (in software programs) and learning creative client strategies (Human Center of Design workshop) was something I didn't expect; I would have preferred more insight on the day-to-day activities that I will be engaging in once I start.

Advice

Be patient. Shifting to remote-style internships is challenging to everyone, so be understanding. Pay attention because they throw a lot at you all at once. Ask questions. Show the company that you can overcome the obstacles and that you are eager to learn and be a part of their organization.

Accountant Intern

June - July 2019 • Tampa, FL

What I liked

It was a great internship. I worked in a great atmosphere with very helpful professionals. I got to learn new data analytics tools through the project I was assigned to and got to present it to professionals from multiple different levels at the firm. Lastly, I got to shadow professionals from all the lines of service which gave me insight and experience into the day to day operations of different people at the firm.

What I wish was different

Advice

Keep an open mind, be open to learning and doing things differently, and have a great attitude

The corporate culture at PwC was like no other company I have ever worked at or researched. The firm truly cares about its employees and interns as everyone has extreme respect for each other, no matter how long you have worked at the firm. The firm is like one big family.

What I wish was different

I wish my internship was longer as I really enjoyed it.

Advice

Listen as much as you can and never be afraid to ask questions as it is a great learning experience.

Tax Intern

January - April 2020 • Salt Lake City, UT

What I liked

I really enjoyed the people I worked with and the environment of the office. Everyone was very accepting and easy to get along with. I also really enjoyed what I learned and how involved I was in the work. I had an opportunity to participate in all the work that the other associates did so I could really experience what I will experience when I start work full time after I finish school.

What I wish was different

I would have liked the internship to have continued longer, but otherwise, it was an incredible experience!

Advice

I would advise that if you really want to have an internship and find a job for after you graduate college, to really go for it, don't be afraid to look for an internship and ask for opportunities. The sooner you start connecting with those in the industry/company you want to be in, the easier it will be to find a position where you want. Networking was key for me in getting my internship; because I knew my interviewer quite well, and our conversation was mostly just chatting which was really nice. Since I already had a connection with them, they trusted me and already knew I would be a good fit with the company.

IFS Start Intern

July 2020 • Florham Park, NJ

What I liked

I enjoyed the people I worked with and the job I was assigned to do. The people always make an experience great for me, and I met some lovely individuals. They were hard working and very friendly; we were able to work well together and also laugh and share stories in our free time to make the air a little lighter, less formal, and more fun. The mentors I had also helped me grow as an individual and as a professional. I took different digital acceleration courses to improve my skills with different programs, and I enjoyed improving myself. The whole experience was phenomenal.

What I wish was different

I wish it was longer and not virtual. The internship was originally 7 weeks in the Florham Park, NJ office. Because of the pandemic, the internship had to be adjusted to a 4 week virtual internship.

Advice

Approach every task with a positive attitude. The happier you are, the more you can accomplish. You will handle stress better and be more personable to your team.

Financial Assurance Intern

July - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Although the internship was in a virtual format, PwC did a great job highlighting the firm culture and providing networking opportunities. A major focus of the internship was digital upscaling, so we received training in various tools such as tableau, alteryx, and UiPath.

What I wish was different

I would have preferred an in-person internship, however, the circumstances did not allow it. I am grateful that PwC was able to create such a great program on short notice.

Advice

Although the program was fantastic, it is important to use the connections that are made available to you. Since the internship was online, it was harder to make personal connections with other people in larger group meetings. Take advantage of the potential connections and set up one-on-one calls. Ask lots of questions. Everyone I spoke to was happy to answer them. I ended up learning significantly more about the firm this way since I wasn't at the firm in person.

Risk Assurance Intern

July - August 2020 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

Even though the internship was shortened down due to COVID, I still got to meet a lot of people virtually and expand my network. I also got to shadow in on client meetings, attend PwC national conferences, and meet with my intern group every day

What I wish was different

I wish the internship was longer than 2 weeks so I had the experience of working with a client.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is that you should try meeting with as many individuals as possible during the time of your internship. It is so easy and fun to expand your network if you're willing to reach out to people.

Audit Intern

June 2020 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

I loved how PwC was able to adapt to the COVID-19 crisis and allowed for a great experience in a remote setting. I learned a lot of valuable things during this short internship and it was great to connect with other interns even in a virtual setting

What I wish was different

I would have loved do real client work but with covid that wasn't possible.

Advice

Ask a lot of questions and connect with as many people as possible.

Start Intern

July 2020 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

- Opportunity to shadow and learn about each service line at PwC before having to chose one - The data application and analysis training with Excel, Tableau, Alteryx, and UiPath - Ongoing open conversation sharing PwC's culture along with their diversity and inclusion movement plans - Case study with a nonprofit organization

What I wish was different

I wish there was the opportunity to be in person and have a longer internship that allows for more time to meet people who work in various service lines within PwC. However, I believe PwC did an amazing job transitioning from a planned in-person internship to a virtual one as a result of the unplanned circumstances.

Advice

Be adaptable, eager to learn, bring a passionate, positive, and motivated energy, don't be afraid to challenge yourself (that's how people grow), and enjoy the time you spend with each new person you meet because there is always something you can learn from others.

Advance Intern

August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I liked learning about the different software that professionals at PwC use. I also like interacting with the people.

What I wish was different

Due to covid, the internship was all virtual for only two weeks. I wish it could have been in person. I know other internships it was for a few months and they worked on real clients.

Advice

Do not be afraid to reach out to people and get to network with them.

Accounting Intern

July 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The internship helped me to build some practical skills, working with different programs that PwC employees use in their workplace. Additionally, it taught me more about specifically what employees do in different sectors of PwC. Lastly, and probably my favorite part, it allowed us to connect with different people in different stages of their careers at PwC, whether it be associates, partners, or fellow interns. These personal connections really helped to get a feel for the firm, as well as connections that may benefit me in the future.

What I wish was different

It was interesting how PwC accomodated for their interns and decided to make the internship virtual, but I still wish I could have had the traditional office experience. It would have allowed me to see more what the actual workplace environment is like. But, these days the actual workplace environment will likely be more virtual moving forward, so that was still good experience.

Advice

I would say that it is a very good way to be introduced to the wider world of accounting, beyond just classes and school. PwC doesn't completely throw you to the wolves to start, but instead helps you understand what they are about and what you will be doing in accounting if you entered a career with them.

Financial Assurance Intern

June - July 2023 • Houston, TX

What I liked

The culture and the people. Their willingness to help you learn and not make you feel dumb

What I wish was different

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Tax Intern

June - July 2021 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

Most of all I liked the people who I got to work with. They were all incredibly kind and very willing to help out whenever possible. I also really appreciated that I was never just doing busy work, rather I sat in on important meetings and I helped with actual workpapers that were necessary for our client.

What I wish was different

Due to COVID, the internship was online, which makes it much more difficult to meet other interns and develop your network. Additionally, I wish the internship had been longer than 8 weeks so I would have more time to learn and work on my skills.

Advice

As an intern, they don't expect you to come in with any real knowledge about the kind of work you will do. Most important for interns is to have a good attitude and always be eager to learn - that is what they are looking for.
